English Reflection

            When I started the year off I would say that I wasn’t a very good writer at all. But having a good teacher makes all the difference. I started off not knowing much about citing and having my own voice show through on the paper. But by the end of year semester I felt that I could write a paper ten times better that I could at the beginning of the semester. It’s not only one type of paper that I’ve gotten better at writing either. I’ve improved on writing profiles, reports, and position papers. My writing has grown leaps and bounds. My new knowledge in better writing hasn’t been easy. I chose a hard subject to write about the whole semester and really had to push myself and put the time in to get not only my English papers done, but thirty’s hours a week of work, and the rest of my classes it was a lot of work but I managed to get everything done. Dedication and persistence is what has gotten me through the semester but the payoff has been amazing. I’ve actually enjoyed writing for the first time in my life and glad that I had the opportunity to take English 2010 and bring my writing to the level where it is today. My writing isn’t amazing but the amount that I have improved is. I’ve also have gotten a lot better a lot better with getting feedback from the instructor and students. I think peer review was a great tool that we used for the class and improved my writing a lot. Having someone read my paper, and helping me get new ideas for writing really helps with the way a person other than me reads and interprets the paper. I learned that sometimes you’re trying to get a certain point across and the way people take the point is completely different. It was also a great help that I was able to read other peoples papers and material from other people. I learned a lot by just being exposed to different types of material and different writing styles. It’s easy to see when other people are making the same mistakes that I am in my paper than if I just read over my paper. Overall It was a great class and a great experience and I’m glad I took the class.
